    Feathered headband: charmschooldesign on etsy
    Necklace: smallthings designs
    Green top: Banana Republic
Belt: boys dept. of American Eagle - ages ago.
    Jeans: Bitten

I absolutely love the peacock feather headband from etsy seller CharmSchoolDesign. It's everything I had hoped for -- which, sadly, is sometimes too much to expect from online handmade retailers.

Apologies for the recent drop off in outfit updates. Will amend that shortly. In the meantime, I thought this illustration by UK illustrator Hennie Haworth is a good description for my style philosophy.

    Dressed Up in Love

    Dress: vintage
    Studded belt: vintage
    Black heels: Banana Republic

I'm definitely playing with the re-emergence of the studded belt coming back as an accessory that doesn't make me look like Avril Lavigne. Thank you, Carrie Bradshaw. This was an outfit worth getting out of bed for. It gave me a reason to go to work on Thursday, at the tail end of a ridiculously long week.

Sometimes that's the magic of my wardrobe.

    Sunny at last!

It's been so gross and rainy the past few days. I'm so glad the weather is finally looking up.

Jacket-H&M I was so excited when I found this. I had been looking for a military style jacket for such a long time. I was even more excited to find out that it was on sale!

I've noticed slowly but surely that my personal style is yearning to be a bit more masculin feminine (if you haven't noticed the abundance of flannel shirts). My love for female androgyny runs deep. I had the JD Samson's 2003 lesbian calendar up for two years. While my style timeline has run the gamut from totally obnoxious (skirts over jeans? wtf was I thinking?) to darling (peter pan collars and a-line babydolls), I'm now looking at these tough as nail ladies for inspiration.

I'm also wearing a pair of cute strappy silver sandals by Seychelles that I got from NY four years ago. Sigh, love NY. The weather has been absolutely confusing. From sunny to torrential winds to hail, Minneapolis has it all and within a 72 hour timespan.

I think this was from a few days ago. Don't mind the sassy face.

    Cardigan: Banana Republic
Dress: present from my mom (GapKids)
    Flats: Bass Outlet

Yes, you didn't read that wrong, my dress is from GapKids. Hi, I'm twenty three, my mother still buys me clothes and I wear GapKids. I feel like Angela from The Office. But gosh darn, kids are stylish these days.

Dress: gift from my mom! (Banana Republic)
Vintage lace slip: Thank You Mart
    Boots: Banana Republic

It's been quite chilly here in Los Angeles lately, averaging mid 60s. So I've had to hang my billowy summer dresses back into the closet and bring out the ole reliable jersey. I wore this dress quite a bit this past fall & winter, but this is the first time it's featured here. I just love the good old combo of flat boots + lace slip + jersey dress.

    Blazer: H&M
    Vintage dress: Aardvarks
    Vintage heels: Jetrag

The pink dress underneath totally looks like a 70's bridesmaid dress. I toned down its lacy grandmother-ness with the short sleeved blazer, but I'm not sure I'll keep it since it's so bride-y. I guess I fell victim to "this is the best thing in the store, comparatively" syndrome. Seemed like a good idea at the time though! I love the color and pleated polyester fabric though.

So since I saw Sex and the City, I've been lusting after these Dior gladiator sandals. Also since I work at a non-profit and am priming to enter grad/art school student debt, I'm not about to plunk down $770 when there are perfectly comparable shoes at a much more friendly price point here, here, and here.

Thank God for fashion blogs & our insatiable lust for fast fashion.
