Necklace: smallthings designs
Green top: Banana Republic
Skirt: from my mom
Shoes: Natural Comfort
I love the retro style of this knit top -- though in the wrong angles (like this one), it makes me look wider. Yesterday I got these Natural Comfort sandals in the mail -- it was the silver lining on an otherwise depressing day. I bought them off of Shoes.com - they were on sale & then I got them for 20% more off after googling "Shoes.com coupon code". That trick actually works & is sooo worth it. I was looking for the perfect wedge sandals that I could wear to work & keep my feet cool. So far the soles of these are like walking on a mattress pillow top, but the front is a little tight. Mostly because I have rectangular "tissue box" feet as Ryan calls them, so hopefully I'll stretch 'em out and they'll be my go-to shoe. I'm in love with T-straps.
Today was farmer's market day and I bought a bundle of stock flowers for $2. They smell amazing and are a beautiful antiqued pink color:

Black pearl earrings: my grandmother's
Blue striped & ruffled top: Bitten
French terry skirt: Lux (Urban Outfitters)
Red flats: Bass Outlet
It seems unavoidable to get a tan when one lives in Los Angeles. I wear at least SPF 15 (sometimes up to 55 if I'm going to be in the sun) on a daily basis. My office is in the basement and my apartment has no direct natural sunlight; the only real sun I get is during lunch (walks by the beach, shopping) and my commute. Yet somehow, my face & arms are so much tanner than my legs!
I love the longgg summer days, but I can't wait for fall/winter so that I can work on getting rid of this tan. In the meantime, here's my effort to embrace these wonderful, dog days of summer.Labels: ann, summer, work

Why don't we have a Zara in the midwest?

Dress-H&M
Gladiators permanently welded onto feet-Buffalo Exchange
I love this dress except it's way too short so I'm actually wearing a pair of jean shorts underneath. I suffer from big butt syndrome in which I have to be extra careful with dresses because they will be of appropriate length in front, but any attempts at picking dropped items results in an eye full of my big ol' butt.
Also I wore this on a date with my domestic life partner and an art opening, only to find out that I was a day early for the opening. This past week has been kind of confusing for me. I feel like I should probably wear this dress with heels, my legs would probably look better. Everyone's legs benefit from heels in my opinion. Anyway, why the hell isn't there a Zara in the midwest? I'm seriously having an aneurysms just thinking about how dowdy midwestern fashion is. Thank God for thrift stores, but sometimes I just want Alexander Wang rip offs. WHY IS THAT SO HARD? The H&M here is SIGNIFICANTLY less cool than the ones in LA, SF, and NY. It's like walking into a Gap. Business Casual. The last time I was in LA and went to H&M my heart started crying from the variety.Labels: annie, bitching
J. Crew Fall '08 Collection = My Dream Closet

I'm a little flabbergasted that J.Crew has embarked on this new "high-end" Collection (aptly titled, the J.Crew Collection). I mean, $3000 for a tortoise sequin jacket in a mall shop? Seriously?
Some of the styling is irresistably gorgeous though, and this is how I would dress if I had a trust fund (you know, while doing my philanthropic work):

I might cave and buy these shoes (if they ever go on sale) since they are my quintessential shoes, you know the ones that perfectly ascribe your very essence?
